Background

The United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) works in over 170 countries and territories, helping to
eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, and build resilience to sustain
development gains. In Tanzania, UNDP supports the government and other partners
in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through strategic
interventions in governance, inclusive economic growth, environment, energy,
and innovation. The Communications Unit plays a critical role in amplifying the
visibility of UNDP’s work and results through media engagement, digital
outreach, storytelling, publications, and stakeholder communications.


The passionate and creative Communications Intern will support daily communication activities, with a focus on content creation, media monitoring, digital storytelling and visual design.


Duties and Responsibilities

     1.      Digital Media and Content Creation.

     2.      Media Monitoring and Analysis.

     3.      Storytelling and Writing

     4.     Photography and Visual Documentations.

     5.      Administrative and Logistical Support

     6.      Other Duties


Required Education, Experience and Skills.

A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, international relations, marketing, graphic design, photography and videography, mass communications, development studies, or a related field.

Applicants to UNDP’s internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements

A) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in a recognized university.

B) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) in a recognized university.

C) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (A) and (B) above) from a recognized University and, if selected, must start the internship within one year after graduation.

 

Experience:

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English (Swahili an added advantage).

Basic experience in graphic design (Canva, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator).

Ability to take and edit photographs and videos.

Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook).

Attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
